Google Sky Maps

October 3, 2011

This is a great time of year for viewing the night sky. Using the Google Sky Maps app can make star gazing a lot more fun and educational. Just download this app to your phone ( it is free! ) and you’re ready to go. Point the phone up towards the part of the sky that you want to know about. Google sky maps will show you what stars and constellations are in that part of the sky move the phone around and it tells you what is visible in different areas of the sky. It is really cool and you can learn the names of the stars and planets while using this app. You’ll feel just like an astronomer. Your parents will be happy to let you have a phone when you use it for all these cool and educational apps.

You can download it here.

    Karsten,

I’m trying to get this website unblocked so students can access it from school. I’ll keep you posted.
